William J. Byrne, Jr., 67, of Tallmadge, Passed away October 30, 2009. He was born October 16, 1942, in Akron, OH to the late William and Miriam (Ann) Byrne. Bill enjoyed life. He retired after working 29 years for City of Akron Highway Maintenance Department. He enjoyed gardening, working on cars, and having a cold beer with friends. Bill loved car races, football and Demolation Derbies. He was preceded in death by his brother,
Patrick Byrne. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Colleen (Joy) Byrne ; daughter, Christine J. (Mark) Shulaw; son, Michael J. (Caroline) Byrne; step-son, Phillip; sister, Jeanne Danner; grandchildren, Chad and Stephanie; and many good friends. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron where funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. with Rev. J. Christy Ramsey officiating.
