William Edward Lucas, "Bill", age 92, of Green, Ohio, died peacefully on December 22, 2017 at Allay Senior Care in Canton, Ohio.
He was born on June 19, 1925 in St. Matthews, KY, the son of the late Clyde and Bessie Lucas.
Bill was a graduate of South High School and also a graduate of Akron University in 1953 attaining a Bachelor's Degree.
Mr. Lucas went on and served our country proudly in the US Marine Corps during WWII as a corporal and also the US Army, being honorably discharged from both.
He was a retired senior planner from BF Goodrich after 38+ years of service. He learned the art of making stained glass which lead to him making beautiful lamps, sun catchers, and windows that were enjoyed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his children, Lynda A. (Gerald "Jerry") Dolan, David E. Lucas, and James M. (Donna) Lucas; 6 grandchildren, Courtney (Keith) Jackson, Cassandra Lucas, Tyler Lucas, Kara (Cody Mangas) Lucas, Benjamin Dolan, and Claire Dolan; one great-grandson, Brayden Dolan; and his good friend and companion, Patti Royer.
Other than his parents, William was preceded in death by his step-mother, Zelma Lampkin; his wife, the former Margaret Deyak, whom he married on August 21, 1950, she preceded him in death on June 14, 1996; his brother, Robert Lucas, and his step-siblings, Jess Cecil, Bud VanCleave, and Stella Abraham.
Funeral services will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at 12:00 PM, where family and friends may visit from 10:00 AM until the time of the service. Mr. Thomas Dolan will celebrate William's life.
