William "Bill" McCoy
William "Bill" McCoy, 70, of Mogadore, born July 27, 1935 in Tioga, WV, passed away unexpectedly with his family at his side on April 20, 2006. He was the second of fourteen children. As a child in Tioga, WV, his first dream was to become a preacher, and then later a truck driver, to avoid working in the coal mines. His second dream came true. He moved to Akron after graduating and worked for Tippets Auto Towing and then All Ohio Express. He learned to weld and became a diesel mechanic. He then worked as a truck driver for Jones Motor Freight, where he was very active with the Teamsters Local 24 Union until he retired. He was a carefree soul and he loved his family unconditionally. He worked hard and he played hard, supporting five children. He loved hunting, fishing, friends, and family. Bill was the real McCoy. He was preceded in death by his father, Delbert McCoy; mother, Mary Hamon; brother, David Hamon; and granddaughter, Tiffany Fisher. He is survived by his loving wife, Bernice; children, Lori (Steve) Evans, Rebecca "Becky" Brandt, Rose (Tom) Livigni, Mari (Todd) Sutton, and William "Billy" McCoy, Jr.; stepchildren, Melva Fisher, Robin (Rick), and Glenn Fisher; nineteen grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., with Pastor John Beers officiating. Family and friends may call from 12 p.m. until the time of service. Interment at Greenwood Cemetery. On line condolences may be sent to www.newcomerfamily.com.
