On Monday, July 11, 2011, William Norman Gay, Jr., 73, died in the loving arms of his wife Daun, surrounded by his family.
Bill was born on Jan 7, 1938 in Charleston, WV. to William (Edna) Gay, Sr. He married Daun Bonner on May 4th, 1957 and they spent 54 wonderful years together. He was an avid golfer with the Diamond Grille League for over 40 years. He was a member of the Yusef Khan Grotto, Wayfarer Lodge #0789 since 1973 and was the Monarch in 1982. He belonged to Clearview United Methodist Church in Akron. He owned and operated B&G Contractor Supply.
He is survived by his wife Daun; his sons Bill (Lynn) and Brian; grandchildren Alyssa, Brandon, Tyler, and Zac; his sister Barbara (Tom) Kochheiser, and many nephews and nieces. Bill is remembered for his loyalty, his friendly manner, and that his word was his bond.
Special thank you to Cleveland Clinic's lung transplant facility for extending his life 9 years; University Dermatologists, Inc. in Akron; Rev. Anne Fisher for her devotion and steady support; and everyone who helped make his life enjoyable. As his son, Brian, so aptly put it: "Dad, We may not have won on the golf course YET, but with you on my team in golf and life, I ALWAYS finish in first place." Bill will be missed.

Friends may call 6pm to 9pm, Friday, July 15 at Newcomer Funeral Home 131 N. Canton Rd. A Masonic Service will be held at 7:30pm that night. Memorial services, officiated by Rev. Anne Fisher, will be held on Saturday at 1pm also at Newcomer.
