William L. "Bud" Stirewalt, 85, of New Franklin, passed away Dec. 23 at Barberton Hospital following a brave battle with Covid-19.
Bud married his high school sweetheart, Mary Ann, over 62 years ago. He was a former member of the National Guard for 11 years, and had been a truck driver for Roadway for 30 years. As a truck driver he became known as "Pumphandle" and many to this day still called him Pump.
Bud was a lifetime member of the Army Navy Union Garrison 102 and at one time served as the Union's National Commander. He was also a long-time member of the Tadmor Temple Shrine.
After retirement at age 67, Bud and Mary Ann bought a small farm. There Bud expanded his love of animals to include horses, sheep and llamas. He could sit for hours just looking out at the peaceful landscape.
In addition to his wife, Bud leaves daughters, Sheila (Kim Allen), Sherrie (George) and grandchildren Justin, Cayley, Jared, Ryan, Cassidy, Shauna and Ariana and beloved dog Legend. He also leaves his siblings Barbara and Fred.
Per Bud's wishes there will be no services.
The family would like to thank the staff of Barberton Hospital's ICU covid unit as well as the many people who prayed for Bud over the past month.
Should anyone desire, donations may be sent to The Salvation Army.
We love you dad. We will miss you.
