William G. Wilfong

William G. Wilfong, 80, passed away on October 7, 2023. He was born on May 23, 1943, the son of the late William and Dorothy Wilfong.
He was a man of faith and attended West Hill Baptist Church. Bill was employed with Figgie International for 30 years and then went on to work for Pneumatic Scale. Bill then used his years of experience to start his own business, Mayfair Lakes Packaging Machinery, where he was the owner and president until 2013 when he retired. Bill was an avid golfer in his younger years. Later in life, his love of golf continued as he shifted to being a spectator. He never failed to brighten up a room with his stories, jokes, smile and laughter. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Wendy Wilfong; brother Larry Wilfong; and sister Geri Baker.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Barbara Wilfong; step-daughters Carrie (George) Schaefer and Sarah Friedman; grandchildren Kassie Losordo, Kiera Hanley, Victoria Schaefer, Dennis Schaefer, Jacob Friedman, Emma Friedman, and Ava Friedman; 2 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 18th, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Rd., Akron) where Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Stephen Neumeyer officiating.
