William "Bill" C. Witchey, went home to the Lord on August 7, 2010, surrounded by his daughter, Lorie; granddaughter, Roxanne; grandson, Elliott; and his two puppies. He left this life at peace looking forward to reuniting with the love of his life, his wife of 53 years, Rusty. Bill was born in Akron, OH to the late Lula and William Witchey, and retired from Akron Fire Dept. in 1995. He was a member of Goodyear Heights Baptist Church, a 32nd degree Mason with Coventry-Akron Lodge #83, Tadmor Shrine, AASR Scottish Rite and Billow Chapter of Eastern Star, and was a Korean War veteran. He will be missed by son, Jeff; daughter, Lori; beloved puppies, Karma and Foxy Lady; granddaughter, Roxanne; grandsons, Ian (Pam) and Elliott; great-grandchildren, Raven, Walker, and Melody; and brother, Don Witchey. Bill was all heart, the care that he gave to Rusty was a love story for the world to experience just by watching the way his eyes lit up as he held her hand. He was known for his generous nature and never met a stranger. He believed in living life each day as fully as you could and enjoying it for whatever it was and he did it until his last breath, surrounded with love and people he adored. A special thanks to Dr. Mark Smith, Kay and Jean, Pastor John Phillips and our church family at Goodyear Heights Baptist Church, Akron Fire Dept., and the people at Akron City Hospital and Asera Care Hospice. Dad, when you wake up, you'll be with mom, Jean, Ruth, Ed, and Ruby, and the others that have gone before you and in the loving arms of our Lord. You've been my best bud and I love you. Godspeed.
