Willie Mae Harris passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2018. She was born on March 4, 1920 in Marshallville, GA to Alonzo & Bertha Murph. Brothers: Alonzo Jr., Edward, W.C., Lewis B., and George. Sisters: Bertha Edwards and Roberta.
Willie Mae and family relocated from Marshallville, GA to Akron, Ohio in 1966. She was affectionately known as "Dale" by all who loved her. She owned and operated "The Blue Chip" Restaurant on Wooster Ave. until she dedicated her life to Jehovah and was baptized in 1971. Six months later, she became a full-time pioneer extending until 2014. She loved telling all who she met about the wonderful hope Jehovah promised for the future. Her favorite pass time was gatherings, cook-outs, dancing, gardening, working in her yard, planting flowers, vegetables and her stylish attire and beautiful hats. She won numerous City of Akron Beautification Watch Awards including in 2018. But mostly she loved her entire family.
She was preceded in death by husband, Henry W. Harris Sr., affectionately known as H.W. Sons, Henry W. Harris Jr., and Fred Harris. Granddaughter, Sandy R. Ford.
She leaves to cherish her memories: Seven Children, John Harris, Charles (Jacquelyn) Harris, Beulah M. Ford, Mary Louise Tucker (Robert), Bertha M. Lovett-Smith, W. Ruth Works-Brown (Sylvester) and Imogene Jones. Special niece, Alice Boyer (Danny) and daughter-in-law, Renee S. Harris. 30 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held November 24 at 4:00pm at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 896 Vernon Odom Blvd., Akron. Repast immediately following at 662 Wolf Ledges Parkway, Akron.
