Willie Curtis Johnson

Willie Curtis Johnson, 94, of Copley, fell asleep in death on September 2, 2018. He was born in Yantley, Alabama to the late Johny Johnson and Rachel Chaney. He was a veteran in the US Army. Willie was hardworking man who worked 2 full time jobs. He retired from General Tire and the Veteran's Administration. He was very family oriented and a devoted husband who daily cared for his wife of 71 years. He always displayed a positive attitude and loved people in general. People would say that he was knowledgeable about many topics because of his love for reading, and his life experience. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughters, LaVern Johnson and Jacqueline Lamar Johnson Armstead; siblings, Ruby Pointer and Johny W. Johnson. Willie leaves to cherish his memory, loving wife, Ellerie Weems Johnson; children, Loren C. (Betty), Willie T., and Raymond S. (Patricia) Johnson; grandchildren, Vincent L. Armstead, Jasiamen (Will) Hampton, Jacqueline (Cossie) Harvey, Tonya D. (Alonzo) Brazile, Bryan C. (Magdalena) Johnson, and Sean C. Johnson; and a host of great and great-great grandchildren. Family will receive friends on Saturday, September 8, 2018 from 3 - 5 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305.
