Willie MacArthur Shepard Aka "Mac" "Shep", 77, accepted his wings on Saturday February 1, 2020. Mac was born May 20, 1942 in Wetumpka, Alabama to the late Velta (Shepard) Adamson.
Mac was preceded in death by his mother, Velta (Shepard) Adamson, Special Aunt Ruby Smith, Brothers: Elma Clyde Adamson, Hildred Adamson, George Adamson and Robert Adamson.
Mac leaves to cherish his memory, loving and dedicated family, wife, Rebecca Shepard, Daughter Whitney, sons Wesley Shepard and Jayson Lockett.
His sisters, Gertie Sims-Dixon (Ocie) of Akron, Ohio, Virgil Thomas and Sadie Smith of Chicago Illinois, and a host of nieces nephews and friends.
Mac relocated to Ohio from Alabama and enlisted in the Military. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army from 1961 – 1964. After his service he obtained employment at Chrysler Stamping plant in Twinsburg, Ohio, retiring in 1995.
Mac married the love of his life Rebecca Herrin in 1988. They had two biological children, son, Wesley Shepard and daughter, Whitney Shepard. They also adopted another son Jayson Lockett. Mac was very proud of his children and was a most dedicated dad. As their children grew older, Mac and Rebecca also fostered ten children for over a five year period.
Mac was a die-hard Cleveland sports fan. He never missed the opportunity to recline in his chair and watch the Browns, Indians and the Cavaliers. After driving the kids to school, Mac spent every morning at Ann's Place and McDonald's drinking coffee, debating sports and talking politics with other retiree friends. Mac especially enjoyed daily and nightly shooting pool with his friends.
For the last six years Mac courageously battled ALS. Although this is a horrific disease, he never gave up on life. As his muscles continued to fail him he became stronger in his desire to live.
