Wilma J. Thome, 84, passed away on February 23, 2009. She was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Dale Thome; daughters, Irene Brooks and Darlene Mathews; son, David (Carolyn) Thome; granddaughters, Lindsey Thome, Lauren Thome; sister, Mary Miller and her family; nephews, Jay and Fred Metzler and their families; and good friend, Mildred Leasure. Calling hours will be Friday from 5 - 8 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron where funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Matthew McDaniel officiating. Burial in Nashville, Ohio, Methodist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be designated to the Palliative Care Unit at Hospice of Summa, 444 N. Main St., Akron OH 44310 (checks payable to Hospice of Summa).
