Wilma S. Winter
Wilma S. Winter, 78, died unexpectedly on January 16, 2006. Wilma was born January 9, 1928 in Rochester, New York, to Helena and Herman Stevens. She married Jim in 1951 and they moved to Akron to begin their lives together. A devoted wife and mother, Wilma was a homemaker and a true helpmate, assisting her husband with his fledgling law practice and being an active leader in his many successful political campaigns. As her children grew up, Wilma began her own career, working for Summit County Domestic Relations and later as the Director of Volunteers at Edwin Shaw Hospital. Her interests revolved around her family and friends whose happiness and well-being were her topmost concern. Preceded in death by her parents and infant sister, Dorothy, and her husband of 51 years, Wilma is survived by their children, James Jr. (Alexis Leone), Susan, and Elizabeth (Thomas Simpkins); grandchildren, Kristin and Anthony Villanova, and James P. Winter III; brother, Charles (Florence) Stevens, cousin, Ed (Mary Anne) Silvers of Newport News, Virginia; sisters-in-law, Bonnie (Frank) Willing of Hobe Sound, Florida; and Betty Winter of Hutchison, Kansas; many nieces and nephews, including special niece, Kathy (Jim) Moses;
