Wilmer "Dean" Lafferty, 92, passed away on March 8, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Eliza Lafferty; in-laws, Paul and Ethel York; infant son, Michael; sister, Clesta Ventress; brother, Lee Lafferty; and daughter-in-law, Marsha Lafferty. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Elizabeth; children, Anita Lynn, Daniel (Cheryl Anderson), and Steven Lafferty (partner Jeanne Swartz); sister, Miriam Ventress; grandchildren, Jennifer (Darrin) Ellis, Sean (Erica) Lafferty, and Jared Lafferty; great-grandsons, Christopher Ellis, Nicholas Ellis, and Jacob Lafferty. After graduating from Kenmore High School, Dean served in the U.S. Army Air Forces where he serviced B17 and B29 Bombers during World War II. He was a skilled carpenter, mechanic, gardener, and technician. He worked at many jobs, finally retiring in his mid eighties. He and his wife loved taking train rides and visiting historic sites, especially in Ohio. He enjoyed Big Band music and taking family videos and multiple pictures of snowstorms. He was always there for his family and we will miss his expertise and love. Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Office Chapel at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 2569 Romig Rd., Akron.
