Beloved husband and father, Zdenek Joseph Vidlak, of Akron, quietly passed on October 13th in the privacy of his home with his family. Originally from the Czech Republic, he immigrated to the United States of America in the 1960's which he ultimately embraced as his country. He retired from Firestone Rubber Co after 33 years of service in chemical research.
His unwavering dedication to his Catholic faith guided him through life. He was an aficionado of classical music, particularly the violin, and loved great works of literature and movies in any language.
Joe was preceded in death by his son, Alejandro. He is survived by his wife and companion of almost 63 years, Erilda "Manena". Together they had five children, Monica, Fabiana (Bulent), Pablo (Carrie) and Mariana (Simon), who in turn blessed them with 10 amazing grandchildren, Alev, Defne, Alex, Ethan, Liliana, Hudson, Dylan, Izabela, Isla and Enna Raine.
A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday October 17, 2017 at 10am at St. Bernard Catholic Church 44 University Ave. Akron, OH 44308. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, followed by a reception at St. Bernard Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Akron.
