Zella Naomi Gunnells, 89, of Akron, went to be with the Lord on January 2, 2013. Naomi was born on August 26, 1923 in Monroe, Tennessee to the late Oscar and Amy Coleman. She grew up on a farm in Livingston, Tennessee. Naomi will always be remembered as a good cook and a wonderful mother and grandmother. Devoted to her faith, she was never without her Bible.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Huey Gunnells; daughter, Susan Elaine Gunnells; four brothers; and three sisters. She will be deeply missed by her children, Chuck (Cheryl) Gunnells, Vanessa Asa, Vallie Mendez, Sandy Haught, Dori Adams; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday January 5 from 11-1 followed by a 1:00 p.m. funeral service at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Interment at Lakewood Cemetery.
